How to Use Kiosk Mode in Chromebook.

Updated: Jan 19

Kiosk mode is a functionality in software that restricts the user's access to certain features or content, essentially turning a device into a self-service kiosk. This mode is often used in public settings where a computer or device is intended for a specific purpose, such as information kiosks, ticketing machines, or interactive displays. This helps ensure a controlled and secure environment, reducing the risk of unauthorized access or misuse. Here is the list of the best Chromebooks in India that can be used for setting up or using kiosk mode in a Chromebook.

Turn on kiosk mode in a Chromebook:

1. Sign in to your Google Admin console:

Open a web browser and navigate to the Google Admin console

2. Access Kiosk Settings:

In the Admin console, click on the Menu icon (usually represented by three horizontal lines) and then navigate to "Devices." From the Devices menu, select "Chrome." Under Chrome, choose "Apps & extensions" and then click on "Kiosks."

3. Select Organizational Unit:

On the Kiosks page, you'll see organizational units. If you want to apply the settings to all users, leave the top organizational unit selected. If you want to apply it to a specific group, click on the relevant organizational unit.

4. Configure Auto-launch App:

Locate the "Auto-launch app" setting. Click on the drop-down menu next to it to choose the app that you want to automatically launch on ChromeOS devices.

5. Configure App Settings:

Once you've selected the app, click on the app window to configure additional settings. This may include deployment options and specific auto-launch configurations. Adjust these settings according to your preferences.

6. Let a Kiosk App Control Chrome Version:

Look for settings related to Chrome version control. Ensure that the selected kiosk app has the necessary permissions to control the Chrome version. Adjust any relevant settings as needed.

7. Save Changes:

After configuring all the settings, ensure to save your changes. Look for a "Save" or "Apply" button on the page, and click on it to confirm your configurations.
